Mackintosh has been backed into outright $3.30 favouritism in 2016 Rough Habit Plate betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Cylinder Beach ($3.50) and Tap This ($7.50).

Will Mackintosh justify favouritism and win the 2016 Rough Habit Plate, or will one of his many talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Tap This ($7.50)

Tap This was unable to make much of an impact in the Group 3 Gunsynd Classic (1630m) a fortnight ago, but has reportedly taken plenty of upside from the run and could very well receive the run of the race from barrier 2. Claiming two wins and as many minors through nine career starts, the Tapit filly beat a classy field to the line in the Floratine BM67 (1200m) first-up on March 30th, and should have no problem performing to a high standard on Saturday with only 55kgs in tow.

2nd

Cylinder Beach ($3.50)

Cylinder Beach has been a standout for trainer Desleigh Forster through his entire racing career and should prove typically tough to beat in the 2016 Rough Habit Plate on Saturday. Finishing third in the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m) and fourth in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) most notably last winter, the Showcasing gelding resumed this time for an impressive win in the Gunsynd Classic and is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from the run leading into the Rough Habit Plate.

3rd

Eschiele ($13)

Godolphin runner Eschiele has found excellent form leading into the three-year-old feature on Saturday, and arguably offers punters the best value for money at current Rough Habit Plate odds of $13 for success or $3.70 to finish in the first three. Taking out the Montgomery Homes 3.y.o Maiden (1200m) first-up on March 290th, the Medaglia D’oro gelding placed fourth in the Floratine BM67 before winning each of the Wiseberry Heritage BM66 (1350m) and TAB.com.au BM67 (1600m) most recently.
