2016 Rough Habit Plate Field and Barrier Draw

May 11th, 2016

A talented field of fourteen has been confirmed for Saturday’s 2016 Group 3 Rough Habit Plate (2000m) at Doomben Racecourse; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

Chris Waller has confirmed he will launch a multi-pronged attack on the three-year-old feature after confirming all of Multifacets, Mackintosh and Trafalgar in the 2016 Rough Habit Plate field.

Multifacets has found keen form leading into the Rough Habit Plate, and has posted a credible three wins and a minor through a total of eleven career starts.

Taking out the TAB.com.au BM71 (1600m), the O’reilly colt ran an impressive third in the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) before a luckless run in the Schweppes BM78 (1500m) on April 23rd.

Mackistosh has claimed three wins from his five career starts so far, and appears as though he will relish a step up to 2000m for the 2016 Rough Habit Plate.

Beginning his career under the guidance of James Bridge in New Zealand, the Pins gelding was unable to make an impact in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) on March 5th but displayed his quality with a commanding win in the Fishboy Seafoods BM77 (1500m) at Hawkesbury on April 30th.

Arguably Waller’s best chance of success in the Rough Habit Plate, Trafalgar ha finished outside the first three only once through six career starts to date.

Completely luckless when blocked for a run in the final straight in the Fishboy Seafoods BM77 last time, the Hinchinbrook gelding should relish the Doomben conditions this weekend.

Desleigh Forster saddled the quinella in the Gunsynd Classic a fortnight ago and has confirmed winner Cylinder Beach (barrier 3) and I’m Belucci in the Rough Habit Plate field.

Producing a number of impressive performances through the 2015 edition of the Brisbane Winter Carnival, including a close fourth in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m), Cylinder Beach returned in late spring for a brief campaign highlighted by a seven length win in the James Boags Premium Maiden (1640m).

I’m Belucci ran second in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at the conclusion of the 2015 Spring Carnival, but has been unable to find the same form through six starts this year.
