2011 Rough Habit Plate Form Guide – Brisbane Saturday

May 12th, 2011

The 2011 Rough Habit Plate Form Guide proves that it’s going to be a very tough race to predict in Brisbane this Saturday.

There is a capacity field of 16 on hand with three emergencies and there are chances right across the board.

Even if you can find some winning form leading into the race it’s often misleading with these horses having run anywhere from  the Sunshine Coast to Wagga.

For that reason make sure you look over the 2011 Rough Habit Plate Form Guide very carefully and try and sort the contenders from the pretenders.

Chateau Fort probably shapes as the early favourite on the back of three victories in a row in 2011.

He’s a very smart three-year-old and with Damian Browne aboard he’ll get a gun drive around the circuit.

Barrier 11 might not look too appealing but after looking through a lot of the top hopes you can see the barrier draw wasn’t very kind to a lot of them.

Quarterbar was one which did get a bit of luck and from gate three he’s now a huge chance.

His results have been a little sketchy of late but the talent is there just waiting for Michael Moroney to tap into it.

With such a wide open contest as always the betting value is great and you’ll find no better odds than on Luxbet.

#1 – Equissential (Barrier – 14) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: Neville O Saunders
  • Jockey: Phillip Wolfgram
  • Career Stats: 16s – 2w – 2p
  • Last Start: 2nd at Eagle Farm

Good run last start but gate 14 is a bit of an issue. Did make Stakes grade in Randwick last year and is four runs into his prep.

#2 – Igles Star (Barrier – 15) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: Kelso Wood
  • Jockey: Jason Taylor
  • Career Stats: 11s – 1w – 5p
  • Last Start: 3rd at Eagle Farm

He can find a place and is never far away but getting across first is another story. Barrier 15 pretty much takes him out of it, otherwise he’s a chance.

#3 – Chateau Fort (Barrier – 11) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: Paul Messara
  • Jockey: Damian Browne
  • Career Stats: 4s – 3w – 1p
  • Last Start: 1st at Eagle Farm

Three in a row in 2011 after a debut third last year. With form like that he’s hard to fault. Will need some luck from gate 11 but expect a big performance.

#4 – Hour Of Peril (Barrier – 1) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: John P Thompson
  • Jockey: Jim Byrne
  • Career Stats: 14s – 3w – 1p
  • Last Start: 6th at Eagle Farm

Takes a little while to get going first up so after two runs he could be starting to get there. Only the one win but never disgraced, gate one brings him right into contention.

#5 – Levi’s Choice (Barrier – 5) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: John P Thompson
  • Jockey: Dwayne Dunn
  • Career Stats: 10s – 1w – 4p
  • Last Start: 13th at Eagle Farm

First run in Brisbane was a disaster and he’ll need to have found plenty since then. Consistency isn’t a word you’d use to describe this horse but on his day he’ll run well.

#6 – Kiss Me Deadly (Barrier – 19) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: Rex Lipp
  • Jockey: Brad Stewart
  • Career Stats: 13s – 3w – 5p
  • Last Start: 9th at Eagle Farm

Form in Ipswich was superb but struggled after the move to Eagle Farm last start. Barrier 19 is an absolute horror and he’ll have too much work to do to win.

#7 – Satch (Barrier – 6) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: Bruce Hill
  • Jockey: Paul Hammersley
  • Career Stats: 12s – 2w – 2p
  • Last Start: 5th at Eagle Farm

Finished off 2010 ok but was slow to start 2011. Only one and a half lengths away last start though so with a bit more fitness he’s a chance from barrier six..

#8 – I’ll Be Tricked (Barrier – 4) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: David Lawlor
  • Jockey: Glen Colless
  • Career Stats: 19s – 1w – 6p
  • Last Start: 9th at Ipswich

Has won at Eagle Farm this year but has also run last at Doomben. One from 19 overall and unlikely to improve on that here.

#9 – Play Action (Barrier – 9) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: David Peoples
  • Jockey: Jason Holder
  • Career Stats: 15s – 4w – 0p
  • Last Start: 1st at Sunshine Coast

Horse is dominant at the Sunshine Coast but can’t lift when he hits Brisbane. If he runs his best he has to be a chance but perhaps saves his best for the sand.

#10 – Alma’s Fury (Barrier – 18) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: Paul Murray
  • Jockey: Glen Boss
  • Career Stats: 11s – 1w – 3p
  • Last Start: 2nd at Wagga

@nd in the Wagga Guineas last start and only just behind Peck the start before that. Providing he’s handled the trip north ok then he’ll run ok. Barrier 18 a killer though.

#11 – Under The Bonnet (Barrier – 17) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: Steele Ryan
  • Jockey: Justin Wood
  • Career Stats: 7s – 2w – 2p
  • Last Start: 15th at Eagle Farm

Couldn’t hack it last start after winning his two previous. Similar field this time too so hard to see him being a contender from out wide.

#12 – From London (Barrier – 13) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: John P Thompson
  • Jockey: Scott Galloway
  • Career Stats: 13s – 1w – 1p
  • Last Start: 16th at Eagle Farm

Another which was left behind in that last start race at Eagle Farm. He needs to find 17 lengths, if you think he can you’re braver than me.

#13 – Andre’s Choice (Barrier – 16) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: Steven O’Dea
  • Jockey: Ryan Wiggins
  • Career Stats: 8s – 2w – 3p
  • Last Start: 4th at Sunshine Coast

Has actually been pretty consistent in the lower grades but it’s a step up here. Lightly raced and coming off a couple of weeks off, would be a chance but is another with a tough gate.

Bet on Andre’s Choice now at Luxbet

#14 – Qarterbar (Barrier – 3) (56kgs)

  • Trainer: Michael Moroney
  • Jockey: Larry Cassidy
  • Career Stats: 9s – 1w – 2p
  • Last Start: 2nd at Eagle Farm

While the stats aren’t the best he’s run in a few quality races in his career. Depending how fresh he is he’s certainly a big player especially from barrier three. Chance for sure.

Bet on Quarterbar now at Luxbet

#15 – Fillydelphia (Barrier – 7) (54kgs)

  • Trainer: Robert Heathcote
  • Jockey: Luke Nolen
  • Career Stats: 13s – 4w – 2p
  • Last Start: 12th at Eagle Farm

She was six lengths away last start but has earned over $80,000 in her career. That shows there’s some talent there and with a decent barrier I wouldn’t overlook her completely.

Bet on Fillydelphia now at Luxbet

#16 – Testa Renaya (Barrier – 2) (54kgs)

  • Trainer: Col Williamson
  • Jockey: Mathew Palmer
  • Career Stats: 19s – 1w – 8p
  • Last Start: 2nd at Dalby

She can certainly run a place and that’s about all she could hope for here. Even with gate two I don’t think she’ll get there though, too much talent around her.

Bet on Testa Renaya now at Luxbet

*Emergencies*

#17 – Man From Oz (Barrier – 10) (56kgs)

#17 – Forbidden Fruit (Barrier – 12) (54kgs)

#19 – Laudit (Barrier – 8) (kgs)
